What is NIME-glad
NIME-glad is a website allowing retrieval of educational contents offered at universities and other institutions to be shared over the Internet.
The website is developed and operated by an independent administrative institution National Institute of Multimedia Education (hereafter as NIME).
Starting with e-Learning courses for developing learner skills, open lectures and university syllabus information are available in a cross-sectional search function.
1. The name NIME-glad
"Glad" is an acronym for "Gateway to Learning for Ability Development". The name NIME-glad was chosen based on its pleasant sound similar to "I'm glad".
2. How Nime-glad works
NIME-glad offers various online e-Learning courses in a comprehensive and systematic manner. To accomplish this, a Learning Object Metadata (hereafter as LOM) is created for each collection of an online e-Learning course. These are then stored in the NIME-glad database. (See Figure 1)
Each LOM item will include the course material's title listing, keywords abstract, educational field, and content. The LOM format conforms to international specifications. Learners will be able to gather necessary courses by searching the NIME-glad LOM database. Many universities and other institutions are offering a large collection of LOM tagged e-Learning courses. These materials are accessible in a cross-sectional manner.

3. The NIME-glad Page
The necessary courses can be accessed by selecting the corresponding fields on the index page. Courses can also be found entering keywords in the search box. (See Figure 2)
In a searchable LOM system, the actual number of LOM entries is of a great importance. Approximately 100 thousand entries will be available upon opening. This number is scheduled to grow yearly to accommodate wide range of educational needs.
